Patrick Larley has captured the true essence of the text in these five poems by Thomas Hardy. The song-cycle, originally four poems, was composed for his son, Christopher, in 1994. A Church Romance was composed as a gift for the golden wedding of John and Kathleen Slater and added to the song-cycle at a later date.
